Canon S90 digital camera

At OHA’s birthday party about two weeks ago, I realized I’m going to want a pocket camera for our planned Caribbean cruise this December so I ordered a Canon S90 for $336 from Amazon.com.

Then I flew to Kansas. The S90 was waiting for me when I returned.

It’s really quite great. There’s no comparison between it and my Casio Exilim EX-V8, which is still good for video (and zooming while recording, which is why I bought it). The Casio’s still images are crap compared to what comes out of my Canon S90.

Big Weekend, Photographically

Last weekend, we had our daughter’s first dance recital, which was spectacular, a baptism for the twins and a birthday party. Packed.

I shot the recital with my 18-200 VR. It did okay.

I shot the baptism with my 50mm f/1.8 AF Nikkor. It was so great for all the group portraits.

18-200 VR Redux

Two days ago, Heycraig notified me of a Nikkor 18-200 VR for sale on Craigslist. I made the guy an offer. He declined. After one more round, he accepted. I took delivery of it last night. I’m happy with the lens condition and price. I’m excited to begin using it again. I traded my old 18-200 VR toward my F4i two years ago (also in April) and I’ve missed it ever since. The pictures I got from it just popped. Sharp, great color and consistently good.

30 May 2010 Update: A little over a month since acquiring it, my 18-200 VR is going strong. What a wonderful, wildly versatile lens this is! It doesn’t replace my 50mm f/1.8 Nikkor for available light photography but it’ll even do for that in a pinch, just with higher ISOs.
