Kindle 3, Three Days In

I received my pre-ordered Kindle 3 in the early afternoon this Monday. Today is Thursday at about the same time of day.

I’ve read [on?] it two nights before bed (too wasted Monday night, went to sleep at 8:30pm). I just bought a new book on for it (from my Mac) and started reading it immediately.

My impression after two nights: The Kindle 3 is simply spectacular. What an ideal little reading device. I love the size and the new screen is even better than the excellent one on the Kindle 2.

An Embarrassment of Printers

I’ve accumulated quite the collection of printers, three of them in the last few months:

HPLJet 4 Plus                $40        Years ago
HPLJet 2300                $20        Garage sale a couple months ago
Lexmark AIO inkjet        Free from the wife’s work (cost them too much for ink)
Sharp AIO laser        $30 from JPR going out of business sale

Kindle 3

My Kindle 3 was delivered to the office today. My first impression was that it looked surprisingly small. My first impression upon putting my hand around it was that it was really small! It took my breath away when I wrapped my hand around it for the first time.

Unfortunately, my Kindle 3’s screen has a small, black fiber in it right where my eyes tend to rest. It’s like a tiny, black hair. That’s gonna bug me. I showed it to OHA, he said it’d bother him too.

This beautiful little device is going to have to go back. I’ll wait a little while until they have more stock so I’m not without it for weeks and weeks.
