Lenovo IdeaPad S10

Last night I ordered a refurbished Lenovo IdeaPad S10 black netbook via a deal link from dealnews.com. The Dealnews copy was:

Lenovo Outlet offers its factory-refurbished

Lenovo IdeaPad S10 Intel Atom 1.6GHz 10.1″ Netbook

for $220. Apply coupon code “SAVE20” and it falls to $176. With free shipping, it’s the lowest total price we’ve seen for any IdeaPad S10 netbook by $32. Sales tax is added where applicable. This 2.42-lb. netbook features an Intel Atom N270 1.6GHz processor, 10.1″ 1024×576 LED-backlit widescreen LCD, 1GB RAM, 160GB 5400 rpm Serial ATA hard drive, 802.11g wireless, webcam, memory card reader, 3-cell battery, and Windows XP Home Edition. A 1-year Lenovo warranty applies. Coupon ends February 21.

Took about an hour to order it as outlet.lenovo.com’s SQL database was crashing with too many connections repeatedly. I suppose it was being killed by the traffic for this deal.

By this morning, that particular model was listed as out of stock on outlet.lenovo.com. Glad I persevered last night instead of waiting for the site traffic to slow down and order it today.

$186 (with ten bucks in there for sales tax) is a nice deal for this machine. The best I’d previously seen was about $250 (also refurbished and from the same source) and I passed since the machine’s build quality, fit and finish were disappointing for that price. But $176 + $10 sales tax was the right price for me. It’ll become my home and college machine of choice, I think.
