Canon S90 digital camera

At OHA’s birthday party about two weeks ago, I realized I’m going to want a pocket camera for our planned Caribbean cruise this December so I ordered a Canon S90 for $336 from Amazon.com.

Then I flew to Kansas. The S90 was waiting for me when I returned.

It’s really quite great. There’s no comparison between it and my Casio Exilim EX-V8, which is still good for video (and zooming while recording, which is why I bought it). The Casio’s still images are crap compared to what comes out of my Canon S90.

My MacBook Pro is over three years old.

I’ve had my MacBook Pro over three years now. If memory serves, I ordered it near 29 July 2007. And I’m quite happy that it’s still one of the fastest machines in the company and serves my needs quite well. I do wish it would support more than 3GB of RAM, but that’s not too big a deal.

It’s on its third battery (they fail after about a year for me) and its third hard drive (no failures, just upgrades).

What’s Keeping me on an iPhone

  1. iTunes music syncing, especially due to my huge quantity of Smart Playlists.
  2. DRM music purchased via iTMS.
  3. Polish. Mostly software/system polish.
  4. The tracking with my finger (like during pinching) is super, much better than with the Samsung Vibrant.
  5. Apps. There are some seriously good apps on the iPhone. For example, Soulver.
  6. Syncing with OS X Address app.
  7. Syncing with Safari (though I don’t use this syncing much at all and I don’t use Safari much anymore).
  8. Syncing with iCal. I think BusyCal will handle this just fine via Google Calendar sync. And it might be more over-the-air than it is now, which would be great. No need to buy annual MobileMe to get OTA syncing.
  9. An investment in cases. No big deal.
  10. Great mute button on iPhone.

The Samsung Vibrant looks very promising but for the points above.
